Tunnel reopens at Meadowdale Beach Park

The tunnel at Meadowdale Beach Park has reopened after being closed for several months.
It’s the only safe way to make it across the railroad tracks to the beach, but it was closed in November due to issues with fish passage. The Snohomish County Parks Department recently reopened the tunnel, according to the Everett Herald:

Man accidentally shoots himself at Lowe’s

A man accidentally shot himself at Lowe’s in Lynnwood.
Police say he was carrying a handgun in his waistband and it accidentally went off about noon Sunday. The bullet hit his genitals, leg and foot. No one else was hurt.

VFW hosts Memorial Day observance at Veterans Park

In November 2006, Spc. Jordan William Hess was wounded when a roadside bomb detonated near his tank while on combat patrol in Iraq. After fighting to stay alive for 19 days, the 26-year-old from Marysville died Dec. 5 at a military hospital in Texas.

Lynnwood Tigers win state lacrosse championship

Another female bank robber on the loose

A robbery last night at Sound Community Bank in Mountlake Terrace could be related to one this week at a Chase bank in Lynnwood. Witnesses say both robbers are women, but so far police have not officially linked the two cases. No one has been arrested in either case.
