Double decker buses are back on the roads

Community Transit’s double decker buses have returned to Snohomish County.
The first of 23 “Double Talls” rolled into service Thursday morning on route 413 from the Swamp Creek Park & Ride to downtown Seattle. The buses, which were paid for largely by to a federal stimulus grant, are replacing older 60-foot articulated buses.

Spring cleaning is a chance to help local kids

As you clean out your closets this spring, a Lynnwood-based non-profit would like the clothes your kids don’t need anymore.
Clothes For Kids could use gently-used children’s clothing including shorts, t-shirts, swimsuits, dresses and flip flops. The charity provides wardrobes for low-income families.

Lynnwood HS basketball tournament raises money for ill student

Over the weekend dozens of people gathered at Lynnwood High School to play basketball for a good cause.
The Hoops for Humanity event raised $1500 for Kayla Healy-Manes, a 17-year-old senior at Mill Creek’s Jackson High School who has cystic fibrosis and needs a double lung transplant.

North Lynnwood Safeway getting a fuel station

A gas station is being installed at the Safeway at 148th & Highway 99 just north of Lynnwood.
The construction includes parking lot redevelopment, two 10,000-gallon and one-20,000 gallon fuel tank, a 464-square-foot kiosk, a 4,014-square-foot canopy, grading, and a storm water upgrade.

AmazonFresh considering expansion to Lynnwood

AmazonFresh, the grocery delivery service from Amazon.com, is considering adding Lynnwood to its service area.
There’s an online poll to decide which neighborhood will be added next. As of Monday morning, Lynnwood is in second place behind Renton/Fairwood. Burien/Normandy Park is in third and Mountlake Terrace is in fourth.

Sisters escape house fire in unincorporated Lynnwood

Brier Terrace Middle students gearing up for high-tech competition
