Crime is down in Lynnwood

Overall, crime is down in the city of Lynnwood. The police department just released its annual report for 2010, and it shows a drop of seven percent in “part 1 offenses” compared to 2009. Those include homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, vehicle theft and arson. The largest drops were in arson, robbery and rape. Improvements coming to 196th Street SW

The city of Lynnwood will receive $300,000 toward improvements on 196th Street SW, also known as State Route 524. The Puget Sound Regional Council provided the money for a project at 196th/Scriber Lake Road (near Big Lots.) The signal will be replaced and turn radius will be increased. Police are putting out another call for witnesses of an officer-involved shooting on the 164th Street overpass last weekend.
