Decision on Community Transit service cuts expected this week

Community Transit’s Board of Directors is expected to decide on Thursday which routes will be affected by service cuts. The agency is slashing 20 percent of service, or roughly 80,000 hours, due to a shortfall blamed on low sales tax revenue. Police now say Wednesday afternoon’s crash was caused by the driver of a box truck who ran a red light exiting northbound I-5 onto 44th. Police have arrested three men in connection with Tuesday night’s robbery and shooting. A man stole a woman’s purse at gunpoint in the 2500 block of 196th St. SW. Community Transit will be doing some work at the Lynnwood Transit Center for each of the next three weekends, including repairs and re-striping. The agency is warning that all cars need to be removed from designated areas by 9 p.m. each Friday.  Cars left in the work area after that time will be towed.
