Two new K9 officers join the force

A pair of new K9 officers have joined the ranks of the Lynnwood Police Department.
The dogs were paid for by community donations and a large grant from Milk-Bone.
Eli has been partnered with Officer Jake Shorthill and Zando has been paired with Officer Joe Dickinson. The new teams have already hit the streets.

Emerald City Smoothie coming to Alderwood Mall

Emerald City Smoothie is setting up shop at Alderwood Mall. It be located in the outdoor Village area near REI and Panera Bread.
The store serves handmade, healthy smoothies made from fresh fruit and protein. They also sell a variety of nutritional products.

Local firefighter retiring after 34 years on the job

Ken Gibler, a firefighter with Fire District 1, is retiring after 34 years of service.
A native of Edmonds, Gibler grew up going to the fire station with his father, who was a volunteer with Fire District 1. Ken’s younger brother was a battalion chief with Fire District 1 when Ken signed on in 1977.

Juried art exhibit begins today

Drop in school zone speeders not as dramatic as study suggests

Earlier this week we reported on a study by American Traffic Solutions that claimed automatic school zone cameras are dramatically reducing the number of speeders.

Duplex fire caused by hot plate

A fire at a duplex north of Lynnwood Friday afternoon caused more than $120,000 damage.
Neighbors called 911 around 12:15 p.m. to report flames coming from the back deck of the two-story duplex in the 15800 block of 52nd  Ave. W. By the time firefighters got there it had spread to the attic.
