Gene Lawson and his arsenal of key blanks at Lynnwood Key and Lock.

Gene Lawson has owned Lynnwood Key and Lock at the Fred Meyer building in Lynnwood since 1999, where he cuts keys by hand.

There’s probably no key that he can’t duplicate.  He can look at your key, find the right blank and cut it for you within seconds. Customers stand and marvel at his skill, a special touch that automated key machines don’t provide.

How many keys does he cut each day?  “I don’t know.  People ask me that.  I don’t really count.  I just order a lot of key blanks.  I don’t really want to know (how many keys I cut).”

Yet another customer arrives, and Gene gets ready to unlock someone else’s life.

Lynnwood Key and Lock is located at 4615 196th St. SW., Ste. 100. Their phone number is 425-672-6853.
