The season’s first performance, “American in Paris,” will take place on Oct. 21. Also included will be the Overture to Luisa Miller by Verdi, Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 by Liszt, and the Hebrides Overture by Mendelssohn.

CSO’s Holiday Concert will be presented on Dec. 16.  Program highlights include Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, Berlin’s White Christmas,  and many popular holiday melodies, some in the form of a sing-along. Lighter works by Brahms, Strauss, Bizet, and Leroy Anderson, as well as Offenbach’s Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld and selections from Phantom of the Opera, will fill out the program.

The third concert, “Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto”, will feature Alexander Velinzon in the title work. This concert will take place on Jan. 20, 2014. Also included will be Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, the Fantasia and Fugue in C minor by Bach-Elgar, and Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks by Strauss.

CSO’s annual Children’s Concert will be given on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. This year’s concert will feature Dave Dolacky in a repeat performance as narrator of Paddington Bear’s First Concert. It will also introduce the talents of two young Rising Stars. (Note that tickets for the Children’s Concert are not included in the season ticket price).

On March 17, 2014 the orchestra will present “Beethoven’s Fourth.” In addition, Demarre Mcgill will perform as flute soloist in the Carl Reinecke Flute Concerto in D minor. The program will also include the Polonaise Op. 49 In Memory of Pushkin and the Masquerade Suite by Khachaturian.

Small ensembles composed of members of the symphony will perform on April 13, 2014 at the Edmonds United Methodist Church.  The program will be announced. Tickets for the ensemble concert (not included in season ticket)  are $15 for general admission and $10 for children 12 and under.

The season will conclude with “Rachmaninoff” on May 12, 2014. Natalya Ageyeva will play Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3.  Wagner’s Overture to the Opera Rienzi and the Classical Symphony by Prokofieff will complete the program.

All concerts, with the exception of the Ensemble Concert and the Children’s Concert, are performed at the Edmonds Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. They are preceded at 6:30 p.m. by a pre-concert lecture given by KUOW’s Dave Beck.
