Edmonds_School_DistrictThe Edmonds School District is hosting a resource night for families of students with special needs on Thursday, April 23 at the Educational Service Center/main district office.

When your sons and daughters with special needs transition from high school to adult life, it brings a new set of opportunities and challenges. As a parent, it can be a confusing and overwhelming time.

Come learn how the Edmonds School District is helping students to prepare and what steps you can take now to get the process started. The event will be from 6:15-8:30 p.m. in rooms 101-102.

Highlights

  • Transition planning begins when your student is in middle school and continues through high school and beyond.
  • Come meet the special education staff who will help them in their progression to adulthood.
  • There are many things to consider; learn what resources are available to help establish financial support, legal support, vocational options and recreational activities.
  • Meet and network with other parents of children with special needs

 

Presentations include: Secondary Special Education Progression; Special Olympics – Project Unify; Special Education PTSA; Local Attorney – Wills/Trusts/Guardianships; DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration); DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation); The ARC of Snohomish County; Snohomish County Transition Council.
