The Fly Fishing Show is coming Feb. 15-16 to the Lynnwood Convention Center.
A number of celebrity speakers and authors are scheduled to talk about casting, fly tying and other aspects of fly fishing. Speakers include Gary Borger, Nate Brumley, George Cook, Jeff Currier, Ed Engle, Daniel Galhardo, Simon Gawesworth, John Hazel, Cecilia “Pudge” Kleinkauf, Jay Murakoshi, Trevor Nowak, Wally Nowak, Jason Randall, Denny Richarks,Phillip Rowley, Chris Santella and John Shaner.
The lectures and demos are designed for all fly-fishers: beginners to experts. Manufacturers of the latest rods, reels, lines, clothing and accessories – and the dealers selling all the products – will be at the show. The popular Destination Theater talks have everything you need to know about local waters and exotic dream trips.
Seminar topics include: Going Deep-Sinking Line Strategies for Stillwaters; Improve Your Fishing Photography; Catching Difficult Trout; Getting in the Mind of Large Trout: Catching Your Trophy; Catching Difficult Trout; Orregon’s Deschutes and John Day Rivers Summer Steelhead; Alaska – Bolivia and Beyond – A Flyfisher’s Fantasy Tour.
Hours are 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Sunday.
Tickets are $15 for a one-day pass and $25 for both days. Advance tickets can be purchased online. Cash only at the gate.
The International Fly Fishing Film Festival will be hosted on Saturday night after the show again. There will be live entertainment and plenty of door prizes prior to the start of the film. Advance tickets ($10 advance $15 at the door) are available Here.
See the band Catch & Release play Saturday night before the film festival. Portland, Oregon’s premiere (and perhaps only) fly-fishing inspired band plays a host of original river music, including “The Tug is the Drug,” “Hatch is On” and “Dancin’ on the Deschutes.” Fronted by angling writer Chris Santella (Fifty Places to Fly Fish Before You Die), Catch & Release also plays eclectic folk rock favorites from the Grateful Dead, Neil Young and The Rolling Stones.
