Did you, a friend or family member attend or work at Lynnwood Elementary School? If so, it’s “Farewell Open House” is this Thursday, May 11 beginning at 6 p.m.
The existing 1962 school will be replaced beginning this summer, thanks to a 2014 voter-approved Capital Construction Bond. Principal Chris Lindblom says the school community wants to give the school a send-off honoring its history and memory – and provide alumni a chance to make one last visit.
As part of the “Farewell Open House,” a timeline display and possible slideshow of photos is being developed. Guest speakers from the community are also lined up to say thanks and farewell to the school that served so many in its current building.
The new school will be constructed on the current Lynnwood Elementary site and replace the existing building. The school will transition to the former Alderwood Middle School, which will be their temporary location for the 2017-18 school year while the new school is under construction. The new Lynnwood Elementary will open in September 2018.
