Lynnwood police blotter: Aug. 30-Sept. 4

Aug. 30
A vehicle stolen from Seattle was recovered in the 4700 block of 200th Street Southwest.

A possible vehicle theft was reported in the 20600 block of 44th Avenue West.

An incident of extortion was reported in the 6500 block of 208th Street Southwest. A man received a suspicious message from a suspect saying that someone paid the suspect to “kill” the man, and the man had to pay him $5,000 to live. The man said he had paid a different suspect approximately $5,000 in installments after receiving similar threats. Officers told the man to stop sending money and entered the messages and previous money transfer records into evidence.

Aug. 31
Two abandoned vehicles were towed from a driveway in the 6200 block of 188th Street Southwest. The residence the vehicles were in front of was boarded up and apparently abandoned.

Graffiti was found on a fence in the 5400 block of 208th Street Southwest.

A purse was stolen from inside a store in the 18300 block of Alderwood Mall Parkway. A woman had used a dressing room inside the store and accidentally left her purse behind. When she returned to the room, it was missing. A possible suspect was seen in the area on surveillance video in the area of the dressing rooms at the same time as the victim.

Sept. 1
A theft was reported in the 4600 block of 196th Street Southwest. Items valued at $1,238.55 were stolen from a store there. The suspect was booked into jail.

A domestic assault was reported in the 7100 block of 191st Place Southwest.

A man was contacted for riding a bicycle without a helmet int he 6700 block of 208th Street Southwest. He had drugs on his person and an identity theft warrant out of Marysville. He was arrested.

Sept. 2
A window was broken at a school in the 7500 block of 208th Street Southwest.

A man was arrested for a lewd act in public in the 4000 block of 164th Place Southwest. A suspicious vehicle had been reported in the area. Officers approached the vehicle and saw the an in the driver’s seat was completely naked and touching himself. Officers ordered him to stop the lewd act several times and he finally did. There appeared to be methamphetamine vapor in the vehicle and the driver admitted he was high. He was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, public indecency and an outstanding warrant. A warrant was also obtained to get a blood sample, which was sent to the state toxicology lab.

A shoplifter was reported in the 4600 block of 196th Street Southwest. Six items of merchandise were recovered, valued at $78.79.

Two stolen motorcycles were located in a garage the 18000 block of Highway 99.

Sept. 3
A theft was reported in the 4600 block of 196th Street Southwest. A woman’s cell phone was stolen from inside a store there. A customer had taken out her phone while checking out. She accidentally left her phone at the check stand, and when she realized and returned, it was gone.

A robbery was reported in the 19400 block of 36th Avenue West. A man jumped over a sales counter at a restaurant there and took $275 from the till. Officers are investigating.

An incident of shoplifting was reported in the 18400 block of Alderwood Mall Parkway. Items valued at $129.99 were concealed and taken from a store. The suspects were contacted and returned the stolen merchandise. They were trespassed from the store and booked for theft.

A vehicle prowl was reported in the 3000 block of 184th Street Southwest. Recently purchased items valued at $326 were stolen from inside the vehicle through the rear window, which was shattered. The window will cost around $200-300 to replace.

Sept. 4
A woman was arrested for urinating in public in the 19700 block of 44th Avenue West. She was also intoxicated with alcohol and was not yet 21 years old.

A vehicle stolen from Kirkland was recovered near the intersection of 56th Avenue West and 178th Place West.

A dog bit another dog in the 6100 block of 183rd Place Southwest. The accused dog had gotten out of its house and was unsupervised when it reportedly bit the victim dog. The owner of the accused dog was able to get control of the dog before officers arrived. The two dog owners were able to work out an agreement and decided to handle the matter civilly.

A vehicle prowl was reported in the 5200 block of 196th Street Southwest. A purse containing $20 cash, a driver’s license, wallet and a check book, among other items, wears taken.
