Meadowdale cheer squad set to defend state championship on Saturday

Cheer squads from three of the four Edmonds School District high schools will be strutting their stuff and raising their spirits high this Saturday, Feb. 1, as they compete at the WIAA 2014 State Cheerleading Championships.

The cheer squads from Meadowdale, Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds-Woodway high schools have all qualified for the state competition taking place on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle. Meadowdale is returning to this year’s competition to defend their 3A non-tumbling state championship; Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds-Woodway will be making their first appearances at state.

A total of 49 schools will be performing at Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundsen Pavilion starting at noon. Mountlake Terrace is scheduled to compete at 12:25 p.m., Meadowdale performs at 12:45 p.m. and Edmonds-Woodway goes on at 1:35 p.m. You can see the complete schedule here.

Tickets for the championship are $9 for adults and $7 for seniors age 62 and older, students with a valid ASB card and children ages 5-11. Children under the age of five will be admitted free. Parking will be available north of the UW athletic fields on Montlake Boulevard for $8 cash.
