Meadowdale High School’s Students of the Month for May are Eric Coppa and Kendra Shaw.

Student Name: Eric Coppa
Mother’s Name: Kristy Coppa
Father’s Name: Paolo Coppa
GPA: 3.72
Clubs & Activities: DECA, Key Club
Athletics: Wrestling as a freshman and junior
Honors: National Honors Society
Awards: I took second place with Craig Elder in the entrepreneurship team event at the 2015 Area 2 DECA Competition in January; was Scholarly Student of the Month from Edmonds Rotary Club in February, 2014; Presidential Service Award this year.
Community Service: Volunteer regularly at the Lynnwood Food Bank and did some work through the Seattle chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
Current Employment: I work part time at Panera Bread of Edmonds and part time for At Your Service, Day of Event Services.
Future Educational Goals: I’m taking a gap year next year and moving down to Santa Cruz, California. I plan to gain lots of work experience, grow as a human being, travel the world, and have fun learning to surf. I’ll do all of this while gaining California state residency so that I may pay in-state tuition when I attend the University of California Santa Cruz in the fall of 2016.
Future Career Goals: I’m planning on studying environmental economics in college and want to move toward a career path that involves the creation, innovation and implementation of alternative energy sources while also dealing with the business aspect of it. Economics and saving the world are pretty interesting to me. I could also see myself becoming a pro surfer, so we’ll see.
Anything else we should know? Thank you to whomever nominated me for this. I appreciate you.
