Overnight I-5 construction work through South Snohomish County ramps up

MyNNNLate-night drivers of I-5 through South Snohomish County are seeing more lane and ramp closures this week as construction work on the freeway and adjacent roadways shifts into a higher gear.

Some of the ramps leading to and from the I-5 freeway at its interchange with State Route 104 (Ballinger Way/205th Street Northeast) are being closed during the overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through next week. More closures are expected throughout the summer. The Washington State Department of Transportation is advising drivers to drive carefully through the work zones and follow detour routes.

Additionally the 236th Street Southwest overpass over I-5 has had overnight lane closures this week for construction work.

The work is part of a $5.35 million project improving freeway ramps, overpasses, sidewalks, and curbs on and around I-5 from the King-Snohomish County line north to 52nd Avenue West in Lynnwood, plus a resurfacing of the freeway itself in the construction zone. The project is expected to be completed this fall.
