Edmonds police and Edmonds-Woodway High School officials are investigating explosions that were confined inside two garbage cans in the school cafeteria during the second lunch period Monday. EWHS Principal Michelle Trifunovic sent the following letter home to parents Monday afternoon following the event, which caused no property damage or injuries:

Box of cremated remains returned to boy’s father

The box containing cremated remains found last weekend at Days Inn on 196th has been returned to its owner.
It turns out the red box had been stolen in a recent burglary of the owner’s home in unincorporated Lynnwood. He called police after seeing the above photo on the news.

Police chief honors dozens of volunteers

Police Chief Steve Jensen recently handed out 60 Presidential Volunteer Service awards to members of the department’s volunteer squads.
The Lynnwood Police Department has two groups of volunteers — Citizens Patrol and Volunteers in Public Safety. There are 75 members on the two groups who collectively gave 21,000 hours in 2010.

Shoplifting turns into a foot chase through city hall

A 22-year-old Everett man was trying to make his getaway after he allegedly shoplifted some electronic equipment from a store near 46th and 196th on Tuesday. Police found him in a nearby park and the foot pursuit was on.

Police searching for robber of dry cleaners at James Village

Lynnwood cops go Christmas shopping with needy children

Burglaries on the rise as the holidays approach
