A property on 196th Street Southwest just east of 76th Avenue West that was the subject of a recent “Looking Back” column for Lynnwood Today is now for sale.
According to Paul Krauss, the city of Lynnwood’s Community Development Director, the building was “vacant and deteriorating” for several years, until a proposal to build a church was approved.
“As I recall, it was around two to four years ago that we processed and approved a proposal to build a Jehovah’s Witness Church on the site and the old building was removed,” he said. “However the Church never proceeded with the plans.”
Krauss said his staff has received multiple inquiries from potential developers, “so we understand that the land is again for sale.”
Good to get some questions answered. I knew about the church backing out, but was curious about the present happening right while I was putting the story together. I had just started writing the history of the land when the trucks started arriving with the dirt.
