Woman in wheelchair taken to Harborview after being hit by car on Hwy 99 Tuesday afternoon

my newsA 79-year-old Edmonds woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center Tuesday afternoon after the motorized wheelchair in which she was riding was struck by a car, driven by 20-year-old Lynnwood resident, at the intersection of 76th Avenue West and Highway 99 Tuesday afternoon.

According to Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Mark Marsh, the woman was traveling south on the east side of Highway 99, crossing at 76th Avenue West, when the vehicle — headed northbound on 76th Avenue West — struck her at approximately 1:20 p.m.

“The driver stopped immediately and waited with the pedestrian until aid and medic units arrived,” Marsh said.

Edmonds Police arrived on scene, located directly next to the Ranch 99 Market shopping complex in Edmonds’ International District, and blocked 76th Avenue West along with part of Highway 99 to enable the medic crew to attend to the pedestrian and allow the Edmondspolice traffic unit to investigate the collision.

The pedestrian was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries, Marsh said.
