Part of I-5 off-ramp to 196th closed tonight and tomorrow night

Part of the southbound I-5 off-ramp to 196th Street SW will be closed tonight and tomorrow night for roadwork.

WSDOT crews will close the ramp from southbound I-5 to westbound 196th Street SW at 9 p.m. and reopen it by 5 a.m. Drivers will take the off-ramp to eastbound 196th Street SW and follow a detour using eastbound 196th Street SW, Alderwood Mall Parkway and Poplar Way to reach westbound 196th Street SW. During the closure crews will install guardrail and re-stripe the ramp as part of the I-5/196th Street SW pedestrian project.

The new pedestrian bridge and walkway are expected to open later this summer.

  1. Hello: I bike around Lynnwood quite a bit…I tried the bridge today. Very nice. Avoiding the 44th and 200th intersection is a significant improvement.
