Police say crash on 44th caused by box truck driver who ran a red light

Police now say Wednesday afternoon’s crash was caused by the driver of a box truck who ran a red light exiting northbound I-5 onto 44th.

The truck hit a car and pickup truck, then rolled and landed on top of the car. The 33-year-old box truck driver was the only one hurt. He was taken to Swedish Edmonds, then treated and released.

The driver of a Pontiac Grand Am is a 47-year-old Bothell woman. The second vehicle was a Ford Ranger driven by a 50-year-old Mountlake Terrace man. Both had to be extricated but somehow, neither was hurt.

No word yet on possible charges for the box truck driver.
