A busy street near Lynnwood Elementary School will be getting sidewalks thanks to a state grant.
The city was awarded the money from the state’s “Safe Routes to School” program. Crews are expected to start building sidewalks next summer (2012) on 48th Ave. W. between 180th and 183rd.
Some of the grant money will also go toward education to encourage students to bike or walk to school. A coalition of community members and school staff has been created to decide the next steps.
