Blazing Onion Burger Company opens today

After months of construction, Blazing Onion Burger Company opens to the public today. It’s in the former Ruby’s Diner at Alderwood Mall.

The locally-owned restaurant, which has three other locations, gets rave reviews for its gourmet burgers and sandwiches. Menu selections include traditional burgers as well as some unique choices such as a Thai Peanut Burger, Garlic Meatloaf Burger and Texas Heat Burger.

Blazing Onion got its start at Mill Creek Town Center in 2007.

“Our expansion to land a mall location might be one of the quickest in the Northwest for a small company, taking 4 1/2 years to expand from a start-up to a small chain of four,” Owner David Jones told us. “We have put everything into making the mall one of our flagship stores for franchising.”

The Lynnwood Blazing Onion has a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, which allows customers to choose from more than 100 soda flavors.  There’s also a self-service digital kiosk for takeout orders and service-on-demand buttons at each table.

Dozens of high-definition televisions are installed throughout the restaurant, including 3-D televisions in the bar. There are even TVs in the restrooms.

A movable wall will open to the outdoor seating area, where guests can dine around a gas fireplace.

Jones spent the holiday weekend training his crew.

“During our five days of live training, the vast majority of our ticket times remained under 10 minutes and our new team and food received numerous compliments.  We are proud to have opened a store in our home town of 20 years,” Jones said.

  1. Yippee! Another place in Lynnwood to increase my cholesterol count (move over Five Guys).

Speaking of burger joints, the Dick’s Drive-In at 220th & Highway 99 should open by the early December.

    1. There are lots of healthy choices on the menu and all of the burgers can be made with a chicken breast or ground turkey, which is delicious by the way. Sub a salad for the french fries and your cholesterol won’t even budge. This is not your average burger joint so please don’t compare it to them.
