Victim in fatal bicycle accident identified as Lynnwood man

The bicyclist who died in a collision with a truck in the Brier area on Saturday has been identified as a 24-year-old Lynnwood man.

He was riding about 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Atlas and Barker roads when he collided with the pick-up truck.

“At this time, investigators believe that the bicyclist may have been traveling too fast to safely negotiate traffic and the curve in the road,” said Shari Ireton, spokesperson for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

No charges have been filed against the truck driver, a 43-year-old man from Mountlake Terrace.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
