Firefighters replace disabled woman's bumpy pathway

A disabled senior citizen has safer way to get out of her home east of Lynnwood thanks to some firefighters.

The firefighters from Fire District 1’s nearby Hilltop Fire Station volunteered to replace the bumpy walkway.

They took on the project after responding several times to help the woman when her wheelchair tipped over or got stuck on the uneven, angled path as she tried to go from her front door to her wheelchair-accessible van in the driveway.

The Fire 1 Foundation, a nonprofit community service organization founded by the employees of Fire District 1, provided the funding for the concrete and other supplies.

The foundation’s Good Neighbor Program routinely makes funds available for firefighters to provide assistance to people in need they encounter in the course of responding to calls.
