After three years on 56th Avenue West, the Mountlake Terrace Car Show is moving for its 2013 edition, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 22.

The show will take place in the parking lot in front of Red Onion Burgers, 21005 44th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace. Show time is 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The car show is a fundraiser for the Mountlake Terrace Business Association and the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation, the charitable organization of Red Onion Burgers owners Seaun and LaRae Richards. Money raised by the show will go in part to the foundation’s Shop with a Cop event in November, where kids from at-risk homes and backgrounds pick out Christmas gifts for themselves or siblings with the help of volunteer first responders.

Seaun Richards hopes the car show’s move away from its previous location, a gravel lot in the downtown district of Mountlake Terrace, will attract more participants. “The gravel, that stopped a lot of people from coming,” he explained. For this year’s event on the paved parking lot, Richards reports he has more pre-registered for the show than he had signing up early for previous year’s events.

The vehicle entry fee for the car show is $20. Awards will be given to the winners of each of 10 different categories, plus two more awards for the Best in Show and the People’s Choice winners.

In addition to the car show, the event will include a $5 pancake breakfast from 8 – 11 a.m. benefitting the Mountlake Terrace Senior Center, a raffle, and a Driven to Give test drive fundraiser sponsored by Harris Ford of Lynnwood. If 300 people test drive one of the new Ford Lincolns at the event, Ford will donate $6,000 to the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation for its Shop with a Cop charity effort. Red Onion Burgers will also present vehicle test drivers with a 25 percent off coupon for use at the restaurant.

Sponsors for the Mountlake Terrace Car Show include Red Onion Burgers, Albertsons, Millers Rent All, Romio’s Pizza, Ace Hardware, Gutter King and Blue Flame Heating & Air Conditioning.
