Lynnwood teen injured in central Washington crash

A teenager from Lynnwood suffered a broken back when the car she was riding in left Highway 97 in north-central Washington on Friday.

The following details are from the Omak-Okanogan County Chronicle:

Kaylee Layird, 18, was taken by LifeLine Ambulance to Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak, the Washington State Patrol said.

She was a passenger in a car driven by Kyle Burton, 20, Bellevue, that went off the road 6.3 miles south of Okanogan.
Burton was not injured.

Another passenger [a 15-year-old boy from Everett] suffered an abrasion. He was treated at Mid-Valley Hospital.

The patrol said Burton was southbound and attempting to pass another vehicle when his car went off the road, hit the culvert and came to rest in the ditch. The car was destroyed.

The report said everyone was wearing seat belts.
