Changes in 2013 for Lynnwood Today

Happy New Year to Lynnwood Today readers. I’d like to welcome in 2013 by announcing a major change to this online community, which former Publisher Mike Murphy originally launched in spring 2010.

Mike recently moved out of the area, and asked me if I would be interested in taking over the site. I currently oversee two other online neighborhood news sites in South Snohomish County — My Edmonds News and MLTnews — so it was a perfect fit. With the addition of Lynnwood Today, I can now provide news to these three communities under the My Neighborhood News Network banner.

Of course, one of my first priorities was to find someone to oversee day-to-day operations, and I am thrilled to announce that veteran South Snohomish County journalist David Pan will serve as Lynnwood Today’s editor. David spent more than 18 years as an editor/reporter for the Enterprise Newspapers/Weekly Herald, and previously worked for the Pierce County Herald and the Daily Herald in Everett. A University of Washington graduate, David has lived in South Snohomish County for 12 years. You can reach him directly at lynnwoodtodayeditor@gmail.com.

The cities of Lynnwood, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace share many common interests, and through the My Neighborhood News Network I am committed to serving readers of all three communities with information about local people, places and events.

I encourage Lynnwood Today readers to email us story ideas, comment on current articles and like us on Facebook and Twitter. And if you have any comments or questions about the site, feel free to contact me directly. In addition, I invite any local business or organization interested in advertising on any or all of the My Neighborhood News Network sites to email me directly for advertising rates — and look for an official introduction soon of our new My Neighborhood News Network advertising consultant, Maggie Peterson.

Sincerely,

Teresa Wippel, Publisher

  1. Congratulations Teresa – this is indeed great news for you and for the community.  My Edmonds News and MLT News are both terrific community resources and feel confident that this will remain relevant and become even more important in negotiating life at its best in Lynnwood!

  2. How very nice to see this place a bit more active again. Best wishes to Mike on his new life, and it’s a pleasure to “meet” the new crew.
