Children celebrate Arbor Day

arbordayFollowing the Stadler Ridge Park ribbon cutting ceremony on April 1, neighborhood families celebrated Arbor Day with the planting of Douglas fir and vine maple trees at the south end of the park.

After planting their trees, the children earned a Lynnwood Junior Park Ranger badge, pledging to “appreciate, respect, and protect Lynnwood’s parks.”

The Tree City USA® program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. Recognition as a Tree City increases public awareness of the many social, economic and environmental benefits of our urban forest. Through the City’s efforts to improve and protect its urban forest, Lynnwood has qualified as a Tree City USA community since 1998.
