City Council to meet Monday and Wednesday night

The Lynnwood City Council is scheduled to gather at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan.13 for its first business meeting of the year and then at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15 for a work session.

At Monday’s meeting, the council will elect its President and Vice-President. At last week’s work session, current Council President Loren Simmonds and Vice-President Sid Roberts were the only candidates who declared for their respective positions.

The council is expected to establish a calendar of council meeting dates and to set a date for the annual council retreat. Election of council representatives for the following are planned: Community Transit; Lynnwood Tourism Advisory Council; SnoCom Board; Snohomish County Health District; Snohomish County Tomorrow; Snohomish Emergency Radio System.

The Council President also will appoint members to: Internal Boards, Committees and Commissions.

A contract between the city and South Correctional Entity (SCORE) for the housing of inmates is expected to be approved.

The Wednesday night work session will include the introduction of new Lynnwood Municipal Court Administrator Paulette Revoir, an overview of the city’s Community Programs, Community Outreach and Healthy Communities Initiatives and a review of current City Council rules.
