City to offer Spanish-language version of Lynnwood University

unnamed (28)If you know of someone who speaks Spanish and would like to learn more about the City of Lynnwood, they will have the opportunity this fall to attend a Spanish-language version of Lynnwood University.

The goal of Lynnwood University is to increase awareness about how your local government works and to empower you to better access city programs and services in a fun and interactive way. This year, the City of Lynnwood, in partnership with the Latino Education and Training Institute, is offering the course in Spanish.

The 2010 US Census shows Hispanic/Latinos are Lynnwood’s largest ethnic group comprising 13.3 percent of Lynnwood’s population.

“Lynnwood University is a great way to learn about city services, get to know our wonderful city employees, and have some fun,” said Mayor Nicola Smith, who is a 2012 Lynnwood University graduate. “Over the past 12 years, approximately 1,000 residents have “graduated” from Lynnwood University and we are looking forward to adding more students to the alumni list!”
