As summer approaches, Clothes For Kids is wrapping up its 31st year of serving low-income students. In preparation for the next school year, Clothes For Kids is making a year-end appeal to the community for support.
With a small budget, Clothes For Kids spends just $83 for each wardrobe they provide. Despite many fundraising successes this year, the organization has not reached its overall goals. “In order to meet our year-end goal and be fully stocked for back to school shopping in August, we need to raise $10,000 this month,” said Development Director Joy Ingram.
Contributions can be sent to Clothes For Kids at 16725 52nd Ave. W. #B, Lynnwood WA 98037 or made online at www.clothesforkids.org.
During the 2014-15 school year, Clothes For Kids provided 3,170 wardrobes and served an additional 2,852 individuals in their family bonus area. Clothes For Kids is a grass roots organization that operates with 2.25 full-time equivalent staff and more than 50 shop volunteers.
“The community’s support makes it possible for us to offer our unique store-like shopping experience to the students and families we serve,” said Ingram.
Clothes For Kids will open to serve students for back to school clothing Aug. 24. Students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program may pick up the 2015-16 Requisition for Clothing form at their school office before the last day of school.
