The community meeting, scheduled for Dec. 30, by the city of Lynnwood, to promote public awareness of an application to the Washington State Liquor Control Board and to obtain input from the public has been cancelled.
The city received notification from the applicant on Dec. 23 that they had withdrawn their application to license a business in the city of Lynnwood.
Voter-approved Initiative 502 directed the Liquor Control Board to establish licensing requirements and procedures for the production, processing, and retail sale of recreational marijuana. At this time, the city does not have specific business license or land use regulations for marijuana-related businesses. In order to provide ample time to prepare and adopt appropriate rules, the City Council has enacted temporary moratoriums on city permits or licenses for both recreational and medical marijuana-related businesses.
