The city of Lynnwood and the community came together to show support for Clothes For Kids as it wrapped up a month-long clothing drive Saturday in front of the Lynnwood Recreation Center.

As part of the Stuff the Truck event, two representatives from Umpqua Bank presented Clothes For Kids with a check for $2,500. Clothes For Kids, a local non-profit that provides clothing for low income students in Snohomish County, was one of 10 recipients of a “Show Us How You Give” grant. Lynnwood Umpqua Bank Manager Thuy Nguyen and Umpqua Government Funds Manager Diane Sellers presented the check to Clothes For Kids Program Manager Nancy Laird-Burris and Clothes For Kids Development Director Joy Ingram.

“Show Us How You Give” was a photo campaign, and provided $25,000 total in grants to schools and organizations across the region. The five nonprofit organizations and five schools – 10 grantees altogether – that had the most votes from the community on their photos via Umpqua Bank’s Facebook page each received a grant of $2,500.

Clothes For Kids also received a $500 check from AFSCME Local 3035, representing Lynnwood’s union employees. Debra Cornelius presented the check to Laird-Burris and Ingram.

Throughout the month of May, the city, along with other community partners hosted clothing donation bins. Last school year, Clothes For Kids provided more than 4,100 wardrobes to children, helping them attend school ready to learn.
