Weigh in today on proposed transit cutbacks

Community Transit is cutting service by 20 percent by early next year. Nearly all riders will be affected.

The agency is asking for public feedback on three proposed reduction scenarios.

An open house will be held this afternoon, June 7, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Edmonds Community College, Snohomish Hall, Room 304.

The first and second alternatives would eliminate route 190 from Mukilteo to Edmonds Community College, route 406 from Edmonds Community College to Seattle and route 419 from Ash Way to Seattle. They would also reduce midday and Saturday service frequency. The second alternative would restore some Sunday servce.

The third alternative emphasizes primary corridors with frequent service and some new routing.  It provides direct trips to Seattle only from south county park and rides. It also creates a network of peak-hour only routes.

All three of the alternatives eliminate 80,000 service hours each year and reduce the service day by two hours at night. You can find more information on Community Transit’s website.

If you can’t make it today, future open houses are listed below. You can also provide feedback online. The comment period ends July 11.
