Community Transit service cuts now in effect

Major cuts to Community Transit bus service went into effect Monday.

Several routes have been eliminated and others serve different locations. Peak hour schedules (5:30-8:30 a.m. and 3:30-6 p.m.) will be mostly stay the same, but off-peak schedules will have fewer trips, particularly outside urban areas. On Saturdays, buses will run less frequently.

The latest any buses will operate is between 10-11 p.m.

For trips to downtown Seattle, several routes have been eliminated and most other routes will remain the same, except with fewer trips.

Community Transit says you should expect more riders on the buses, especially in the afternoon.

The agency is reducing service because of low sales tax revenue. It is pursuing new funding options during the legislative session.

More than 800 bus stops in Snohomish County are affected. About 100 employees will be laid off.

You can check for information on specific routes on the Community Transit website.
