2:55 p.m. Update: The driver of the 1996 Nissan 300 ZX was a 55-year-old Lynnwood man. He was trying to sell his sports car to the passenger, a man from Missoula, Montana. The two men were out on a test drive when the crash happened. The driver/owner was speeding when he lost control of the car in a curve, went into a ditch and then collided with a tree. He died at the scene. The passenger was taken to Harborview. His injuries aren’t life threatening.

One man died and another man was hurt about 5 p.m. when their car struck a tree near 211th Street SW and Cypress Way in unincorporated Lynnwood.
Police say the car was headed northbound on Cypress Way when it left the road, went into a ditch then hit the tree. The road was wet at the time and the collision happened at a curve, but police haven’t yet said what exactly caused the crash.
The driver died at the scene. The passenger was taken to Harborview with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Both are adults, but their ages and hometowns have not been released. No one else was in the car.
As of 6:25 p.m., Cypress Way is closed between Larch Way and 216th Street SW for the investigation.
