Deputies arrest purse snatcher

A purse snatcher didn’t get too far after he tried to rob a woman in north Lynnwood.

On Tuesday about 8:15 p.m., a Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the man take a woman’s purse near 148th and Highway 99. The deputy caught up with the suspect within a minute and placed him under arrest.

The 22-year-old suspect told deputies he took the purse because he was homeless and needed to eat. He was booked on a charge of second-degree robbery.

The 56-year-old victim was not hurt in the incident.
