Police volunteers find missing disabled woman

A couple of Lynnwood police volunteers located the disabled woman who walked away from an adult care facility on Tuesday.

The pair of Citizen Patrol members were driving through the retail district of the city just after midnight on Wednesday when they spotted a woman who looked suspicious in a parking garage. They recognized her as the missing woman on a poster they saw before going out on shift, so they notified dispatch.

“Police patrol responded, contacted her and confirmed she was indeed the missing person. She was then safely delivered back to her adult care facility,” police spokesperson Shannon Sessions told us.

The Citizen Patrol members are volunteers who drive the streets of Lynnwood seven nights a week from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. They look for DUIs, stolen cars, suspicious persons and generally act as extra eyes and ears for the officers.
