Lynnwood city employees have kicked off their annual “Dollar for Denim” fundraising campaign. They can either donate one dollar or non-perishable food for the privilege of wearing jeans to work on Fridays. All of the donations go to the Lynnwood Food Bank.

“This program has been very successful and has been a fun tradition for the employees in the city,” said Julie Moore, administrative assistant.

Since the fundraiser began in 2008, city employees have raised more than $10,000 for the food bank. Donations were boosted by contributions from the ASFCME union.

In addition to cash, employees also donated 353 pounds of food last year.
