Early results show Frizzell, AuBuchon in top two positions for City Council primary

Early Lynnwood City Council Position 1 primary results on Tuesday night show candidate Christine Frizzell with a strong lead with 1,411 votes, or 43.22 percent, and candidate Van AuBuchon in second place with 898 votes, or 27.5 percent.

The early election results were updated at 8 p.m. on Aug. 1. Ballots were due at 5 p.m.

The top two vote-getters will move on to the general election in November, which is when a new councilmember will be selected.

“I am very encouraged by tonight’s results,” Frizzell said in a statement Tuesday night. “This is an awesome answer to many, many prayers for wisdom and guidance, an average of 103,000 steps per week door knocking and lots of hard work by my great team of volunteers.”

Candidate Ben Corey is in third, with 630 votes, or 19.3 percent, and candidate James Robert Deal has 299 votes, or 9.16 percent of votes. Fewer than 1 percent of voters wrote in a candidate’s name.

Lynnwood City Council Position 1 is currently held by Councilmember M. Christopher Boyer, who is not seeking re-election.

A total of 3,265 Lynnwood ballots had been counted as of Tuesday night. View all Aug. 1 primary election results at this link. They are expected to be updated on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at approximately 5 p.m.
