The Edmonds Center for the Arts has launched a campaign aimed at fostering the development of young musicians by supporting the residency of one of the world’s most talented pianists.

Partnering with Raynier Institute and Foundation through the fundraising platform power2give, ECA hopes to inspire a wide gift base for ECA’s first power2give project titled “The Alpin Hong Residency”.

This new funding model, hosted on the ArtsFund platform, will help support a three-day educational residency showcasing the talent of award-winning pianist Alpin Hong.

Hong wowed young musicians when he was last at ECA in 2012, and no doubt will add to his enthusiastic fan base as he once again engages students in South Snohomish County.

The vision of “The Alpin Hong Residency” initiative is for Hong to work with approximately 60 middle and high school students from across the Edmonds School District in an “All-Star Orchestra” March 24-26. The students chosen for the initiative will be mentored by the artist in rehearsals and will form the orchestra he performs with in his public performance at ECA on March 26. Hong’s residency will also include a special in-school performance at Mountlake Terrace High School on March 24, as well as an opportunity for local students to attend the free dress rehearsal at ECA on March 26.

“The Alpin Hong Residency” will be free to participating students. Support of the project by power2give donors will provide students with a unique opportunity to study with an award-winning musician, and further strengthen ECA’s efforts to provide high-quality, affordable arts education programming to the community.

ECA’s goal is to raise $3,500 by the end of March. Making the impact of donations to the project go even further, the Raynier Institute and Foundation will be matching every gift dollar-for-dollar. You can learn more about this project or donate here.
