The Board of Trustees has named Jean Hernandez the new president of Edmonds Community College.
She was selected after a national search began last spring and involved participation from students, college employees and community members.
Hernandez has 30 years of experience in higher education, most recently as the vice president for instruction at South Seattle Community College. She’s also held leadership positions at Shoreline Community College and Cascadia Community College.
“I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to lead a college with such a strong commitment to student learning and success, as well as one with a reputation as a leader in providing exceptional educational programs and building community partnerships,” Hernandez said.
Retiring president Jack Oharah’s last day will be Jan. 7, 2011.
