Man spots burglar while sitting in his hot tub

Edmonds police arrested a 31-year-old Lynnwood woman Monday morning on suspicion of vehicle prowl and suspected burglary after a homeowner sitting in his backyard hot tub observed her trying to break into his home.

Details from our friends My Edmonds News:

According to Sgt. Mike Blackburn, police were called to the home in the 18000 block of 76th Avenue West at 9:24 a.m. after the homeowner observed a female suspect enter his backyard and try to enter his home through the back door.  When he confronted the suspect, she ran from the property.

While the homeowner was calling 911, he observed the lights on in his pick-up truck. When police arrived, they discovered that property had been stolen from the victim’s truck, including a loaded handgun.

Edmonds police officers and K-9 unit, assisted by Lynnwood police, began a search for the fleeing suspect. During the search, property stolen from the victim’s vehicle — including the stolen handgun — was located after being discarded by the fleeing suspect, police said.

The K-9 unit located the suspect at 10:27 a.m. hiding under the front porch of a residence in the 18100 block of 76th Avenue West. The 31-year old Lynnwood woman was arrested at that location without incident, police said.
