Edmonds CC men defeat Everett, head to NWAACC tourney

Edmonds Community College sophomores Badhasa Margasa and Stefan Johnson played their last game Saturday on the court of Seaview Gym at Edmonds Community College.

The two Tritons went out in style as Edmonds defeated Everett CC 98-85 and ended the regular season with a 17-10 overall record, placing fourth in league by going 9-5.

The Tritons now head to Tri-Cities for the NWAACC Championship Tournament that begins Saturday and runs through Tuesday. Edmonds will take on East champs Treasure Valley at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, in the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

Edmonds swept both contests versus Everett this year. Earlier the Tritons beat EvCC in a thriller; Edmonds led the visitors 51-33 at the half only to see the Trojans close to single digits midway into the second stanza before Edmonds put the game away late.

Freshman center Payton Pervier notched another double-double, scoring 24 points and pulling in 24 rebounds. The 7-footer also had 5 blocks. Five other Tritons scored at least 10 points. Zach Pederson had 16 points and 8 boards, Philip Maxie added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, Margarsa had 13 points and both Johnson and Sam Omondi contributed 11 points to the Edmonds CC victory.

The Tritons shot 47 percent and dominated the boards (60-34) against the Trojans (13-15, 4-10).

David Ware had 24 points for Everett with Jake Allen adding 20 points and 6 rebounds.
