Edmonds CC stepping up security after Tuesday’s stabbing

Edmonds Community College is increasing security patrols around the campus after Tuesday’s stabbing of a student.

The 22-year-old male student was stabbed in the face and robbed inside a men’s restroom at Alderwood Hall. The attacker got away and has not yet been arrested. The victim was treated at Swedish Edmonds and released.

The college says three uniformed security officers as well as a part-time student security officer usually patrol the campus while classes are in session. Around the clock patrols include hourly checks of the college buildings and grounds. Those patrols have been stepped up, the college said in a statement. It said that this is the first time in memory there has been an assault with a weapon on the Edmonds Community College campus.

Anyone with information about the case should call Lynnwood Police Department at 425-670-5600.
