Community Christian Fellowship of Edmonds is hosting a Welcome Kit Drive, in tandem with World Relief Seattle, to help welcome the incoming refugees that are being displaced because of the situation in Afghanistan.
The church is asking for people to bring either a kitchen or a bedroom welcome kit, but if they can’t afford whole kits, pieces of them are fine. Learn more by visiting this Welcome Kit Building web page
Is there a reason why The Church is not going to totally support these immigrants? We know they will immediately get State Welfare $, Medicaid, taxpayer-subsidized housing,, food stamps…etc. So will The Church provide FREE housing, or anything…as they Should?? WHAT is The Church, SPECIFICALLY, going to Give to these immigrants? Why ask for donations?
No offense to the church, but why doesn’t The Church GIVE, without asking for donations? I would love to see, once in all eternity, for a church to say, “we are giving $10,000” to whatever the cause,, without asking their congregation to give money or this-and-that.
Probably because, technically, churches are non-profit, and largely rely on their members to be able to do outreach like this. It’s about people coming together to be able to help others, and the congregation makes it possible to be able to do these great things. I have to be honest, your comment comes off as tone deaf and selfish.
Of note, I no longer attend church, nor am I religious. So my response here has nothing to do with that.

Wow! Janet. You may overestimate how large many Church Budgets $$ are. The Church is “Stepping Up” to
assist an unknown # of refugees. Good Work Lutheran Church!
Unlike Afghanistan the USA remains a relatively free country. I’m feeling free to visit the Church and
make a donation $$.
I volunteer at the Lynnwood Food Bank. We expect to encounter our share or more than our share of refugees.
I’ll Looking forward to helping out. I’m brushing up on my Farsi & Arabic.
Yep Janet, money just grows on trees for churches to grab and give.
This is truly an unfortunate state of affairs that they had to flee their ancient and rich culture and most of all their home.
