Last Thursday, the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation distributed over $68,000 in grant awards to Edmonds School District teachers, principals and administrators at their annual Grant Awards Ceremony hosted by General Growth Properties, Alderwood.

The Foundation is providing funding for such programs as algebra enhancement to help eighth-grade students who are struggling in math get a leg up before classes resume in September; after school study programs; wind and salmon migration studies; fine motor stations for kindergarteners to develop fine motor skills, and more!

“As a small business owner, I am grateful to the community that supports my practice, and as a parent, I am grateful to the teachers and schools in our district that have helped provide my children with such a wonderful education,” said Dr. Mark Zacharia, Edmonds-Westgate Veterinary Hospital. “Supporting student learning gave me an opportunity to give something back, and with every dollar of our contribution going directly to the classroom, I cannot think of a more effective way to support kids in our region.

On hand to present awards, in addition to Samuels, were the following program sponsors: Diana White representing the Hazel Miller Foundation; Dale and Tara Terwedo, Terwedo Financial Services; Bob McMahon, Sant-McMahon; Aaron Dubuque, Light Doctor; Levi Watson, American Family Insurance; Jodi Solberg, Mary Kay Cosmetics; Justin Reeder, Edmonds Vitamins & Herbs and Casey Auve, B2C Publishing.

Guests enjoyed complimentary refreshments from Blazing Onion Burger, Claim Jumper, PF Chang’s Bistro and Romano Macaroni Grill.

For over 25 years, The Edmonds Public Schools Foundation has supported students, teachers and schools by putting money they raise directly into schools and classrooms.  With an all-volunteer board and active community participants, the Foundation has successfully provided Edmonds School District with a dynamic partnership in educating our children.

Edmonds Public Schools Foundation is co-located in the Edmonds School District offices at 20420 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. For more information, call 425-431-7260.
