Update: The 74-year-old woman who was struck by a car Thursday afternoon died overnight at Harborview Medical Center.

A 74-year-old woman is  in critical condition after being hit by a car  near 184th Street SW and North Road, just south of Lynnwood High School.

Police say she was crossing the street to get her mail about 4:45 p.m. when stepped in front of  the car. Medics took her to Harborview with critical injuries.

“The crash appears to be a terrible accident. There is no indication that speed, alcohol or aggressive driving played a part in this,” said Rebecca Hover, spokesperson for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver is a woman in her 40s and lives in the area. No charges have been filed.

Traffic was detoured through the Lynnwood High lot during the investigation.
