Maralyn Chase

maralyn@maralynchase.com
Prefers: Democratic Party
Background:
I was first appointed to the House of Representatives in 2002, I served in the House until 2010 and then moved to the Washington State Senate. I earned a BA and MA from the University of Washington; operated a family-owned general and specialty contracting firm for 25 years, operated a workforce training facility for 5 years and taught at the UW as an Instructor.
Community services includes serving on the Board of the Labor Education Program at Georgetown CC; Shoreline Chamber of Commerce; Seattle Indian Center; 32nd District Democrats; environmental groups, peace movement and civil rights movement.
Q: If elected, what is your top priority?
My priorities are funding for education, economic recovery, protecting the environment, and transparency in government – particularly around the nature of our tax system which is the most regressive in the entire country.
Q: What motivated you to run for this position? What do you want to see change?
I believe in democracy and justice and fairness and want to leave a better world for my grandson.
Q: Why do you think you are the best candidate for this position?
My experience in the legislature, as a local business owner, an educator and community leader provide me the knowledge and expertise to continue to represent the interests of the people of the 32nd legislative district.
I commit to fully funding education, continuing to champion our environment, tackling the growing gap between the rich and poor by addressing our unfair tax system, and enacting legislation to support local business which are the backbone of economic prosperity in our community and the driving force of economic recovery in our state.

Chris Eggen

chrisEggen@comcast.net
Prefers: Democratic Party
The candidate did not respond to the questionnaire; all information is taken from the Snohomish County Local Voters’ Pamphlet.
Elected Experience: Serving second term Shoreline City Council; twice elected Deputy Mayor. Elected to Sound Cities Association Board.
Other Professional Experience: US Air Force 1969-1973. UW Acoustics Research 1975-2008
Education: UW – MS Physics, MS Electrical Engineering
Community Service: Chris coached youth sports and otherwise supported his two adopted children. Active environmentalist and affordable housing advocate, Chris served in Shoreline Solar Project and the Shoreline Housing Advisory Committee. PCO 32nd LD Democrats.
Statement:
We need effective Democratic leadership in the State Senate. Chris is in public office not to prove a point but to get things done for local families and small businesses. A longtime public education advocate, Chris will be a strong voice to fund schools with stable revenues. Chris will also work to keep higher education affordable. He will put his collaborative style to work and secure funding for Community Transit, Metro, and our roads and bridges. Having served in the military and worked on housing, Chris will champion benefits for the vulnerable, including vets, seniors and kids. Chris is pro-choice—it’s shameful that the Senate has twice failed to pass protections for women’s health care. With your vote Chris will bring a record of practical leadership and an effective new voice to an unnecessarily fractured Senate.
Robert Reedy

drbob1954_9@hotmail.com
Prefers: Republican Party
The candidate did not provide a photograph.
Background:
Robert Reedy 32nd dist state senate; rep; I have lived in MLT since 1956; I have held several appointed offices including library board, and park board (in another city). I have run for office before.
Q: If elected, what is your top priority?
Jobs, without good jobs how can the government expect people to live and raise their families much less plan for the future, and plan for their old age; a good solid job answers those questions ; the best welfare plan in the world is a good job at family wages. If it means trimming down on government waste, we should be doing that already; if it means changing the rules of state economics then let’s change those rules. It should be the citizens and their families first, then the government comes in second; not like we have things today.
Q: What motivated you to run for this position?
I am tired of seeing and hearing about what the modern family must endure now days. Apologists keep saying that Hope and Change takes time; I say the American family does not have the luxury of time.
Q: What do you want to see change?
I would like to see an economy where there is a good job for everybody who wants one. That is the sole priority; political correctness, a devastating state income tax must be put on the shelf.
Q: Why do you think you are the best candidate for this position?
I am in a position to see what is really going on, and not ready to believe what the politicians expect us to believe.
I am out on the front lines of American life so I see and hear things first hand. If our politicians do not want to believe America has high unemployment and higher under-employment, let them come to the unemployment office(if they can find a place to park); let them come to the food bank line, let them dip into their deep pockets and buy some groceries for hungry family; a single mom going to a church once a week just to feed her kids, now that’s a war on women!
