Emery’s Garden — the nursery on 164th across from Northpointe Center — is closing. Garden Center Director Amy Tullis cites a number of factors.
“Changing garden trends, the economy, the big box stores, all attributed to this decision. We have been here for 15 years. A community resource for better living, information and getting back to nature,” she told us.
The store is having an inventory clearance sale, with most items marked at 30 percent off. Tullis said the store should be closed by Dec. 1.
Emery’s was founded in 1996 by Emery Rhodes. He bought the land from Japanese immigrants who opened the nursery in 1963.
Perhaps if their prices had been more reasonable, they would still be in business?! Loved their selection but could only purchase on a sale basis.

One of my favorite garden stores. I will miss you Emery’s!
