A new international preschool recently opened in Edmonds and is currently enrolling children from south Snohomish and north King counties.
EuropaKids teaches Spanish and Mandarin Chinese using the immersion method. They offer full-day programs for children from two to six years old.
“We have been recognized on regional, national and international programs for our work in multilingualism in regards to preschool,” said founder Collin Wiggins. He points to research that shows children learn a second or third language more easily before the age of eight.
Wiggins is a native English speaker who has multiple degrees in International Studies, German, Spanish, French and Japanese languages.
“Seattle Public Schools just designated many schools as international schools and I am sure that this wave of change will soon spread to other school districts,” he added.
